You can use this blog post for any sport you need to, if your feeling down, or don't feel like progress is in your favour and you need help on how to keep enthusiastic about the sport and training for it, then look no further because this is the one for you.

Tip #1 - Create a Goal

Goal setting: a mental training technique used to increase an individuals commitment towards achieving.

there are 3 main types of goals with each one different in its aim and performance structure, these are: Outcome goals, Performance goals, Process goals.

outcome deals with results, performance deals with helping with improvements and process goals are aspects of a specific skill to work on.

Setting goals is, in my opinion, very important for motivation. without a goal sometimes you may wonder 'why am I doing this' or 'what am I working towards'. Goal setting gives young athletes the help they need to optimize their performance in and out of the sport. it enables them to think about what's important and gives them a sense of a positive self-direction.

Tip #2 - Reward yourself

Every time you complete a goal, remember to treat yourself, it could be as little as going out for a coffee, to as big as going shopping. after you finish your exercise or sport activity and you feel good about it, savour that moment. let yourself be proud and let yourself relax, Create a rewards chart if your feel like it or even have a bar of chocolate for every personal best you beat.

Tip #3 - Have fun with it

staying positive is possibly the biggest thing about staying motivated, you need to be able to enjoy your sport while you do it otherwise your training won't be as good, your mindset won't be as good and therefore your performance on the big stage won't be what you feel like you should be able to do.

For example, if you don't feel like something is working for you in terms of enjoyment, try something else that will work the same way but does is differently, make it work for you.

Tip #4 - Self Belief

Having self-belief means you have the belief that you can overcome any hurdle, a belief that you can take on any challenge, and a belief that you can and will win. When you're running high on these positive emotions, and have a true belief that you can do it, your motivation will just flow freely until your confidence is at its high point, you feel like nothing can stop you and no one can beat you.
